One year ago today my book Trouble In The Camera Club had its launch at the Garrison. What a fantastic party that was! I have been so honoured by the response and support the book and I were given. Thank you to everyone who attended the launch, bought the book, took it out of the library, wrote, talked or blogged about it, the venues and festivals that hosted my slideshow/talk, and all the people who wrote to me sharing their sometimes similar experiences. Thanks to the individuals and bands who I photographed or who made a real revolution happen, and to everyone whose X-Acto knife and gluestick flyers helped make the book so visually rich.

Thanks again to the people who performed at the launch, designed the book, and to ECW Press for releasing Trouble In The Camera Club. The positive feedback I continue to get about it made a very long journey worthwhile.

There are still 20 limited edition versions with 7″ single, despite most people’s belief that they are long gone.

I believe the photo above was taken by Joanne Brigmantas and modified by Rojer Moxie Streets – the first other “punk” I knew!

The former location of The Greeks tavern in Kensington Market has been taken over, cleaned up, made all pretty, and is now Thirsty & Miserable. Owned by Martin Farkas (known to some as singer of the great Career Suicide) and his biz partner Katie Warrior (guitarist of the late Brutal Knights), Thirsty & Miserable specializes in small craft and unique beers. I’m honoured to have my photos on the walls of their hot new endeavour. Go have a drink with these good people and look at some large photos!

Thirsty & Miserable is at 197 Baldwin St. Photos are up indefinitely.

The Diodes’ John Catto wants TITCC for xmas!

The Diodes guitarist, recently in Toronto as part of a tour celebrating being named the best Toronto band of all time, has added Trouble In The Camera Club to his wish list in this week’s Now magazine.

I will be having a photo clearance sale at The Beaver, 1192 Queen St W on Saturday Dec 10 at 5pm. All remaining framed and unframed prints from exhibits at The Beaver, The Music Gallery and Northern District Public Library will be on sale. Additionally, I have obtained all remaining copies of the Limited Edition Trouble In The Camera Club book that include 7″ vinyl 45. The last 25 copies will be available for $35. Makes a horrendous gift.

Book signing at Downtown Toronto Record Show on Sunday Nov 6

I will be selling and signing copies of my book, Trouble in the Camera Club, this Sunday November 6th at the Downtown Toronto Record Show. Additionally, I’ll have a small selection of vinyl and CDs for sale of various bands I have been part of, including Black Heel Marks, Phono-Comb, Greek Buck, John Greyson film scores, Fifth Column, King Cobb Steelie, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and Crash Kills Five.

Calgary photographer Arif Ansari exhibits photos

An article in the Calgary Herald about photographer Arif Ansari was brought to my attention recently. I am cited as an influence on his work, which of course is very flattering. His exhibit of music photos, “Rawk”, is on display now in Calgary at Concept Lounge, 908 17th Ave SW. His Flickr page is here and includes photos of The Brenda Vaqueros, Grown-Ups, Exploding Pigs, Cripple Creek Fairies, The Ex-Boyfriends, The Mants, The Primrods, Blist, The Von Zippers, Forbidden Dimension, Cowpuncher and more.

He also shot this excellent picture of Lethbridge, ABs greatest export, Fist City – a band I had the pleasure of producing recordings for earlier this year.

I will show photographs in the gallery space on 2nd floor of the Northern District Public Library for the month of October, 2011. The library is just west off Yonge St. north of Eglinton Ave.

During the run of the exhibit, Trouble In The Camera Club will be for sale at Vortex, 2309 Yonge St. 2nd floor.
